One way to spend a summer

I have put more energy on my vintage shop lately, colorful mosaics have to wait for autumn. Oh I have a desire to create something new... but we are renovating our old timber house this summer and there is simply no time for mosaics.

The house is more that 100 years old, with a really good aura. The workmen who have built the house have known all the secrets of making a proper timber house. The walls, the timber is still very strong. This is a place where my heart belongs and we want to make a beautiful and very cozy home out of it. We are hoping to put a new stone roof on the house this year, use a soda blast to make the timber walls light again, build a new fire stove, a chimney, a large fireplace, put new ceiling and winterize the house from the outside. Big plans, so much to do with so little time.

Here are some pictures of the work in progress:

We changed lower row of the timber last summer and put on new bigger windows

Alan, his father and brother-in-law taking off the old roof

Taking off rafters and later on a crooked chimney as well

Me cleaning up the mess on the roof

Yay, so tired, dirty and fulfilled

Today I´m working inside, just took off a wall

We are hoping for a dry and sunny weather. I´m going to add more photos later on this summer, sadly not about mosaics this time but about building and living a dream, our dream :)
